Model History
The XJ6 caused a sensation when it was launched in 1968. Retrospectively known as the Series One, the earliest XJs, with their low-slung front bumper and traditional layout to the dashboard, are perhaps the purest expression of Sir William Lyons' thinking. The XJ6 was available initially in just 6 cylinder form, with the V12 variant being introduced in 1972. When the Series Two facelifted XJ was launched in 1973, the 2.8 model was replaced with the slightly larger 3.4 XK powerplant.
