1973 Rover P5B V8
A Classic British Car For Sale at Pedigree Automobiles
£SOLD
1973 Rover 3500cc P5 saloon on sale in Kent, UK.
3.5 ltr saloon light blue, an ex- Practical Classics magazine project
car which underwent a complete strip down from front to rear, requiring new
sills, door panels, front and rear wings, 'a' and 'd' posts, o/s/r chassis leg, and rear
wheel arches.
Engine and automatic gearbox stripped and rebuilt. Photos available of every stage up to
final respray. Front and rear bumpers re-chromed.
Light tan leather seats and
door panels restored by Connolly.
A really fine example of this classic car -
over £15,000 spent (all bills included), recent £1650 spent on new p.s pump, fuel pump,
radiator, distributor, plug leads, spark plugs, fan belt, battery, plus all filters and oils.
Only covered 6585 miles since restoration, can be guaranteed.
This is a reluctant sale due to owners health and age.
Thankyou.
Model History
The P5 Rover range, introduced part way through production of the successful P4 line, was built between 1958 and 1973. The P5B version was launched
in 1967, and continued through to the models demise in 1973. The sturdy P5 was a popular sight in the media of the time, with
both politicians and Royalty taking to its understated, yet dignified, air.
Of all the P5s manufactured, 20,600 were P5Bs - all
P5Bs were fitted with the Buick-designed V8 engine displacing 3,500cc - an engine that went on to power many thousands
of P6 and SD1 Rovers, Land Rovers, Range Rovers and a myriad of sportscars. Good P5s are a rare breed, most owners tending
to hang on to them for a very long time, usually because later Rovers rarely compared well with these superbly built
saloons.
